City Of Holmes Beach
If you’re looking for waterfront homes, beachfront homes, or other luxury real estate for sale in southwest Florida, you might take a look at Holmes Beach, the largest municipality on Anna Maria Island. It’s named for Jack Holmes, the visionary developer who launched this distinctive community after World War Two. By 1950, Holmes had put 180 modern homes on the market, an elementary school was built, and the community was incorporated as the “City of Holmes Beach.”
A Casual Laid Back Community
Holmes Beach is in the center of Anna Maria Island, and while it’s a casual, laid-back beach community, it’s also a fine spot to raise a family or even to retire. Groceries, pharmacies, clothing, and entertainment are all offered right in Holmes Beach, along with houses of worship, health care, and an excellent elementary school. It’s one of Florida’s most popular wedding destinations, and it’s home to a diverse population: about half the residents are married couples, while 31% of households are single individuals. Holmes Beach offers plenty of diversity and a world of recreational options from hiking to deep-sea fishing. Key Royale, the small adjacent bayside island, is an exceptional waterfront community with luxurious homes, deep-water boat docks, and a private golf course and clubhouse.
A full range of residential properties can be found at Holmes Beach: authentic beach bungalows, traditional single-family homes, luxury homes, huge waterfront estates, and big, beautiful spacious condos. With 14,400 feet of some of the whitest sand on any beach anywhere, many homebuyers over the years have found Holmes Beach irresistible. You might find it that way, too.
